The burn permits are available until May 30th. No burn permits will be issued unless the clearing index is above 500 for Air shed 4. Links to check the index are available at www.willardcity.com  The Division of Air Quality regulates this, not the County Fire Marshal.  If the Burn Index is not above 500 on the day you want to burn, do not call for a burn permit.

Agricultural Burn Permits - Agriculture burning falls into a little different category and permits can be issued year round, but ONLY if the Clearing Index is above 500 for Air shed 4. If you meet the criteria for Agricultural Burn Permits and the Clearing Index is above 500 for Air shed 4 call 435-734-3345.  Burn Permits for Saturday will be issued on Friday and there is no burning on Sunday.

Residential Burn Permits - The "Residential Burn Windows" are March 30- May 30 and September 15- October 30. Burn permits can ONLY BE ISSUED IF THE Clearing Index is above 500 for Air shed 4. State requirements limit burning for only natural vegetation, ie: tree trimmings, leaves, etc., can be burned. This means no construction debris, household garbage, tires, etc. can be burned. Other methods of disposal will need to be used for these items.  If the date is between the Residential Burn windows and the index is above 500 for Air shed 4, call 435-734-3345. Burn Permits for Saturday will be issued on Friday but you will have to check the Clearing Index before you start burning on Saturday and there is no burning on Sunday.

“It’s Time for Spring Clean-up City Wide” will be held May 15-22. Dumpsters will be located in the parking lot between the City Hall and the Fire Station. There will be a trailer for metals and batteries and also an area for electronics. This is a service to the residents of Willard and to continue we need residents to abide by the following:

No dumping of:

·         stumps, tree limbs, or yard waste. Alternatives are the green waste area in Brigham City or obtain a residential burn permit. The Box Elder County landfill also offers Pay Once on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of every month for public NON-WEIGHABLE loads only. Call 435-7442275 for hours and more information or go the Box Elder County website: www.boxeldercounty.org

·         concrete or construction debris

·         Hazardous waste

·         Do not leave electronics.  The recycler is unable to take CRT monitors or tube televisions.  They will, however, accept LED/LCD televisions and monitors, washers and dryers, and other newer electronics.

This has been a successful way for the citizens of the City to remove items from their houses and yards. Thank you, City leaders, for this service.

Youth baseball games start May 15th and practices are underway. Come support the youth starting May 15th at the ball park. With the final playoff games happening on the 4th of July.  With the practice of baseball underway, we turn to the need for volunteers to help plan out the rest of the 4th of July activities during the annual celebration. This has been a long standing celebration for the community and residents past and present. Council member Profaizer is calling for volunteers and ideas to make this year’s event even better. Contact the City Office at 435-734-9881 or by email at willardcity@comcast.net  to volunteer for the committee.
