Jenica McCarty was nominated for English March Student of the Month. Jenica is the daughter of Dale and Laurie McCarty.
Jenica McCarty was in the second trimester English 1010 class. Jenica may not have considered herself a writer before this class, but it was seen that her writing demonstrated a clarity and humor in every essay she wrote. One of the things that is hard to get across to students is to understand and believe that a writer can take the most ordinary topic and through a new perspective bring it to life in a unique way. All of Jenica’s topics were commonplace; she wrote about family vacations, television programs, and dog owners in ways that made them fresh to read.

Beth was nominated for Psychology for March’s student of the month. Beth Thompson is the daughter of Corey and Kristen Thompson.
Elisabeth “Beth” Thompson was chosen as the Psychology Student of the Month for a variety of reasons. She is a student who is on task and engaged in what is happening. Beth has voiced that she was genuinely fascinated with the subject of Psychology, and she was thinking about changing her major and going into the field of Psychology.
Beth’s behavior is always exemplary, and she is an overall great student and young woman. This alone makes her a special student, but her Brain Project made her stand out even more. She wrote a song about the Motor Cortex in the brain. She played the piano while she sang the song for the entire class. It was amazing.

Miranda Call is our Performing Arts March Student of the Month. Miranda is the daughter of Jason and Rhonda Call.
Miranda has been a curious and overachieving student, always giving her best work and encouraging the same from her peers. Miranda is a wonderful team member and also a terrific leader. She has an unbelievable work ethic. No matter what the task, Miranda will see that it is completed with each detail in place. She knows the importance of organization, precision and deadlines. Miranda is capable of leading a team, working by herself, and working with others. She is self-motivated and will succeed.
Miranda is a fabulous performer and works hard no matter the size of her part. She is there ready and wanting direction and guidance in each role and works hard to do her best. She is not afraid of trying something new whether it be Shakespeare, aerial silks or even tap dancing. Miranda is excited for anything new and not afraid when success is not achieved immediately. She takes on the challenge and keeps working until she is successful.
Miranda is a theater teacher’s dream because she will do the work others are “too busy to do,” such as putting the chairs away after a rehearsal or arriving early to help set things up. She is always there to ask what needs to be done--and she truly means it. She is willing to do whatever needs to be done--from painting, to filing, or cleaning. She goes above and beyond without an expectation of reward for her hard work, she just sees a need and fills it.
Miranda is a friend to all, often helping to ease tension or seeking out those that appear alone. She always works hard get her fellow cast members to care about their production. She is the first to celebrate other’s hard work or great performances. Miranda is also a support to her friends outside of our classroom and stage and attempts to attend as many of their events as she can, from choir concerts to swim meets--you will see her there with a smile --cheering everyone on.
One of her greatest attributes is her gratitude. Many performers look at each project as a job, but for Miranda, each one is treated as a gift. She makes time to thank each staff member daily and let them know how much she is enjoying the experience. She listens to instructions not just with her ears--but with her mind and heart fully engaged in the project. Miranda has maturity beyond her years to gain meaning and connection with each project and share that passion with those around her.
