Dear Parents,
The Utah State Board of Education approved Box Elder School District’s request to waive the 180-day requirement for school enrollment and not have students make up the snow days our district had on January 5 and 9 or the two two-hour delays that we had on January 23 and 24 . However, a stipulation was made that the 990-hour requirement would still need to be met. Three Mile Creek, along with several other schools in the district, did not meet this requirement. In order to remedy this, we are required to add 10 additional minutes to each school day during our 3rd trimester (March 6-May 26).
Our school is choosing to add these ten minutes by (1) reducing our lunch time from 35 to 30 minutes and (2) dismissing school five minutes later at 2:20 instead of 2:15. We have looked at many options and have concluded that this option would affect our families the least. Please plan on your students being dismissed five minutes later beginning on Monday.
If you have any questions concerning this change, please call our school at 435-734-4930. We appreciate your support in helping us as we move forward with this change. We know that the increased instructional hours will give our teachers more time to work and prepare your child for their future and will keep us in compliance with state requirements.
Thank you,
AshLee Nelson, Principal
