The Ben McAdams-allied group “Patriot Majority USA” has aired this past week a false advertisement claiming that the Mia Love Campaign engaged in “illegal” fundraising activities for the 2018 primary election. Yesterday, the Love Campaign objected to the false ad by forwarding to Utah broadcast stations the authoritative written guidance that the Campaign received from the Federal Election Commission’s Office of General Counsel, which concluded that “Friends of Mia Love is not required to take any corrective action regarding the primary election contributions at issue."
Fortunately, the statement by the Federal Election Commission official has forced Patriot Majority’s hand. We have just learned that Patriot Majority is now taking down their ad, in an acknowledgment that the ad that they’ve been showing Utah voters this past week was false all along.
Friends of Mia Love Campaign Manager Dave Hansen said: “This is further proof that Ben McAdams and his liberal allies have been lying all along. The clear and authoritative written statement by the Federal Election Commission’s Office of General Counsel has been absolutely devastating to the McAdams Campaign. Ben built his entire candidacy around spreading a lie about Mia Love, and now all of that is falling apart. We expect that Ben and this coordinated Democratic attack will keep trying to spread falsehoods about Congresswoman Love in the future, but we will keep fighting these smears through Election Day.”
