Open Letter to Willard Residents:
Steve Summers Willard Residents : December 16 ·: facebook - Willard Residents
This is a photo looking east at the Willard mountains across the street from the home that I grew up in. Please look at the entire right hand sight of this photo from the center over and consider that a group is trying to turn all of that into a large gravel pit. The Box Elder County Planning Commission held a hearing last night on the issue and were supposed to take public input. They ended the meeting without letting anyone speak according to my mother and other neighbors who were there. I'm a rookie with this sort of thing but I need to find a way to stop the destruction of this beautiful mountainside before it's too late.
(There will be a follow up article - with indepth look at this new problem)
It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that the Utah Highway Patrol confirms the passing of Trooper Eric Ellsworth. At the age of 32, he succumbed to his injuries received in the line of duty. On Friday, November 18, while responding to a call of low hanging power lines near Garland City, Trooper Eric Ellsworth was struck by a vehicle and critically injured.
Trooper Ellsworth dedicated 7 years of his life to the Utah Highway Patrol. His first two years were spent in Green River. He spent his final 5 years in Section 1 helping and serving the people of Box Elder County and Northern Utah. Our thoughts and love go to his wife and their three young boys.
Willard hosted the viewing of Trooper Ellsworth at the Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in South Willard, erecting the flag and standing watch during the viewing. With many agencies from the State and County, including a Life Flight landing in a nearby field, to pay their condolences to the family. The Willard Fire Department helping in closing I-15 for the procession, we thank all who helped and supported in this difficult time.
The City has contracted with Val Kotter & Sons to complete required maintenance of the sewer system. They are inspecting the manholes, cleaning the lines and using a camera to locate any problems within the lines that need to be corrected. This maintenance is required for insurance purposes and critical to help avoid costly back-ups of the system. Many residents have easements across their property and have manholes located in those easements. Please make sure they are clear of debris and accessible for cleaning.
We would also like to remind residents you are responsible for the clean out located at or near the property line. Make sure it is protected if it is above ground level and make sure it is covered (covers are available at home improvement stores) to avoid debris from falling in and blocking the line, causing sewage to back up in your house. They should also be accessible in case you do have a blockage in the service line.
Back on December 1, there was a gas leak in the area of 100 North and 100 East. Questar spent the night and most of the next day fixing it with no serious injuries.
