Box Elder High

Sydnee Nevling is our January Student of the Month for Visual/Fine Arts. Carol Dittli, Photography teacher at BEHS, nominated Sydnee.  Miss Nevling is the daughter of Dan and Eunice Nevling.

I have had the privilege of having Sydnee Nevling in several of my photography classes.  When I think of an A student, Sydnee immediately comes to mind.  Sydnee is extremely responsible student who does great work on all her assignments.  She comes to class prepared and is a positive influence in the classroom.

Sydnee is an amazing student and a great photographer.  Sydnee is always pushing herself to be a better photographer.  She researches, studies and learns on her own.  She puts effort into her work and it shows.

Sydnee is a great person who cares about others and is willing to help others.

I know Sydnee will succeed at whatever she decides to do.  It is my privilege to recommend her as student of the month for the fine arts department.

Parker Gibby was nominated by Mike Reeder for January Instrumental Fine Arts Student of the Month.  Parker is the son of Mark and Beckee Gibby.

Parker Gibby is student of the month for January for Performing Arts.  Parker is a percussionist.  He is known as the percussionist that plays drums for the B-E-H-S cheer.  It is not an easy talk.  There are specific sticking issues associated with playing this simple cheer.  To make it more difficult, everyone likes the cheer to go fast.  He can accommodate this.

Parker is adept at playing all percussion instruments.  Often percussionists gravitate to one instrument such as snare drum or drum set or even marimba.  Often these students, refuse to play any other instrument.  This is not true for Parker.  He is equally capable on all instruments.  He can play mallet instruments as well as he plays battery.  Although he has not had enough opportunity to play drum set, I’m sure that it is something that he could excel at.

Parker intends on being an engineer.  He has taken AP Chem and is currently enrolled in AP Physics.  He also takes many concurrent enrollment classes.  Parker is a great student in many classes.

Parker has a great demeanor.  He seems relaxed, but is intent on performing at high level.  Parker is a joy to work with.  I enjoy having him as a student.

Kiara Trussell nominated by LouAnn Thompson for January English/Language Arts Student of the Month.  Kiara is the daughter of Jessica Meacham and Kory Trussell.

Kiara Trussell is a dedicated student at Box Elder High School.  She has shown an extraordinary work ethic in class.  She expects the best from herself at all times, by working hard in and out of the classroom.  She takes the initiative and responsibility for her own learning. Her good hard work placed her name on the Honor Roll at Box Elder High School for 1st Trimester.  She has a “can-do” attitude!

Kiara has taken on the leadership role as a cheerleader at Box Elder High School and helps promote positive “school spirit” for Box Elder High School.  Kiara is a kind, thoughtful person.  She continues to exhibit a positive attitude even when things get tough.  She is very pleasant to be around.

Coach Robbie Gunter nominated Tyson Thompson for PE/Health January Student of the Month.  Tyson is the son of Cory and Mitzi Thompson.

Tyson Thompson is the Physical Education Student of the Month.  Tyson was chosen because of his dedicated efforts and great attitude.

I have had Tyson in class for three years.  In that time Tyson has made more progress than any other student during that time.  He has grown taller, has gained an incredible amount of strength but has also gone from a quiet/shy sophomore to a well-spoken leader as a senior.

Tyson has had tremendous gains in his strength.  He is a member of the 1000lb club and because of his current strength has made me think about adding a 1500lb club.  He works hard and does things the correct way.  He is also a leader in the classroom.  I trust him to coach up any of the students in my classes because I know that he pays attention to details and has the student’s safety and well-being in mind as he is showing them how to do certain lifts or exercises.

Tyson is also a great leader.  He has many friends and almost all the students will follow him.  Whatever class he has been in has been the best class of the day for me.  I know it is because Tyson brings out the best in all the students.  They respect him and work hard around him.

It is my honor to present Tyson Thompson as the Outstanding Physical Education Student.
