July 31st, 2018 - Los Angeles, CA - 3OH!3 and Emo Nite LA have joined together to announce a tour like no other - The WANT House Party Tour!!! Featuring special guest lil aaron, these shows are going to be an actual house party. Fans are going to be able to be a part of each night without the typical constraints of set times and with an opportunity to really interact and connect with artists, just as if you were throwing this party in your own living room. Nathaniel Motte and Sean Foreman of 3OH!3 shared that "We want to include people from different backgrounds, walks of life and foster an environment that breaks down the barrier between the artist and fans. We want to be able to throw a party, celebrating 10 years of WANT and bring the unique energy of Emo Nite along with the energy we have always had." Pre-Sales begin today with all general tickets on-sale Friday, August 3rd at 10am Local Time. For more information, please head to http://www.3oh3music.com/.

Emo Nite LA, the event started by three friends (Babs Szabo, T.J. Petracca and Morgan Freed) at a small dive bar has grown into a full-blown phenomenon. They have been able to bring together some of the most incredible names in music who have become part of this Emo Nite "family", including Halsey, Sonny Moore (Skrillex) and From First to Last, Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Mark Hoppus (Blink 182), Post Malone, Demi Lovato and so many more. Emo Nite has been throwing regular events in dozens of markets across the country and have had spots on lineups at festivals like Life is Beautiful, Slam Dunk, BUKU and Vans Warped Tour. Additionally, the founders have created successful clothing collabs with companies like OBEY, Urban Outfitters, PLEASURES, Rose in Good Faith, OWSLA and more. But above all else, they have changed the idea of what a music event can be.

"We're really excited to throw these parties with 3OH!3 to celebrate their album WANT. These parties aren't going to be your normal rock show... Sean and Nat wanted to return to their roots of playing party music with friends in basements and at house parties so what better place to do that than Emo Nite. It's going to be nonstop action from start to finish and we're gonna have tons of special guests and surprises along the way. We've always been friends and fans of 3OH!3 so we're honored to be working with them on creating these unique experiences across the country" shared the Emo Nite founders on the announce of this unique tour.

The tour is a massive celebration of 3OH!3's debut album, WANT, which was released in 2008. That's right: ten years ago 3OH!3 burst onto the scene Kool-Aid Man-style and blasted the world's eardrums with a brand new sound. The duo, fresh out of school (one foregoing medical school and the other forgoing a promising career as a bike-sandwich-delivery-guy) released their first single, "Don't Trust Me" in June of 2008. The record found its way into the nation's heart like bacon grease; blending undeniable synth magic with a tongue-in-cheek, extremely catchy hook. Like wildfire, "Don't Trust Me" climbed the charts for 15 months before topping the Pop radio charts at Number One. Continue to stay glued to 3OH!3's online accounts and socials for BIG anniversary news.

When Retirement Is Just Around The Corner,

These 3 Steps Can Help You Prepare

If looking ahead to retirement makes you a little nervous, you’re not alone.

Nearly half of Americans (46 percent) who haven’t reached retirement predict that they won’t be financially comfortable once they get there, according to a Gallup survey.

For some, those potentially uncomfortable retirement years are decades away. But for the Baby Boom generation, retirement either already arrived or will in the next decade or so, prompting many Boomers to wonder whether they are prepared for their looming date with destiny.

And that raises a question: Just what does it take to be prepared?

“Many Baby Boomers measure their preparedness in terms of assets,” says Ryan Eaglin, founder and chief advisor of America’s Annuity (www.americasannuity.com).

“They’re trying to hit a certain number or account balance. Asset accumulation is an important part of retirement planning, but it’s not the only component. There are a few other steps you need to take to make sure you’re ready to leave work behind and enjoy a stable and comfortable retirement.”

Eaglin suggests three planning steps that can help Baby Boomers – or anyone else – be better prepared for retirement:

  • Prepare not just one, but two budgets. Most Americans don’t use a budget, even though it’s a handy tool – especially in retirement. “It helps you see where you’re spending your money, how much money you can afford to spend and what adjustment you should make,” Eaglin says. He recommends creating two budgets. One would be for your remaining years before retirement so you can look for ways to cut spending and save more. The other would be for after you retire. “Think of ways to live the retirement you’ve dreamed of while also staying within you income,” Eaglin says. “It may be difficult but just the act of preparing a budget can help you get a better understanding of your financial situation.”
  • Project your income. While your budget will help you understand how you are spending your money, you also need to have a good grip on what your potential retirement income will be. For most people, that’s a combination of Social Security, personal savings and possibly employer pensions. Social Security has an income estimator tool on its website, and an employer should be able to provide a pension-benefit projection. “Your financial professional should be able to help you project how much you should be able to take from your savings each year,” Eaglin says. Once you compare your projected income to your spending budget, he says, you’ll know whether you need to save more or rethink retirement spending. You also might want to look for ways to increase your guaranteed income, such as through an annuity, he says.
  • Plan for long-term care. As much as people don’t want to hear this, the average 65-year-old has a 70 percent chance of needing long-term care in retirement, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. “That means it’s very possible you or your spouse may need care either in your home or in a facility at some point,” Eaglin says. “That care can be expensive. Unfortunately, it’s usually not covered by Medicare, and it’s covered by Medicaid only after you’ve depleted much of your assets.”

“If all this tells you that you’re behind on where you want to be with preparation and your savings, the good news is it’s never too late to get started,” Eaglin says. “You may have to adjust your plans, but with focus and discipline, you can still put yourself in a position to have a comfortable and enjoyable retirement.”

Bring Girls on the Run to Your School!

Our Site Application for our Spring 2019 season is officially open! Next year our season will run from March 11th-June 1st, with our final 5k celebration taking place at Sugarhouse Park on June 1, 2019. Interested in getting your school signed up? Here’s what you can do to get your school up and running:

  • Identify a Site Coordinator. This could be YOU! It is a very simple and low time commitment position to set up a team. Site Coordinators work with the school to get permission from the principal, promote the program to girls and families within the school, find coaches and register students. Please email our Program Director, ivy@girlsontherunutah.org, for more information on becoming a site coordinator.
  • Find a Place to Practice at Your School. This could be a field, track, or nearby park. You will also want to choose an indoor space for rainy days, such as a gym or classroom.
  • Choose 1 or 2 days a week for the program. Our program runs for approximately 10 weeks, and each lesson is intended to take an hour each. If you practice 1 day a week you will complete 2 lessons for 2 hours, and if you practice 2 days a week you will do 1 lesson each day for 1 hour.
  • Recruit Volunteer Coaches. Each team will need 2-3 coaches who want to have an incredible, rewarding experience making a difference in the lives of young girls in our program. No running experience is necessary to be a Girls on the Run Coach! We can help with recruiting coaches as well.

We take care of the rest!

  • We provide detailed lesson plans and activities from our nationally recognized curriculum
  • Provide all materials to lead each lesson
  • Train coaches at one of our fun, interactive coach trainings before the season begins
  • Provide marketing materials that you can use to promote the program at your school, and also keep parents informed throughout the season
  • Provide on-going support throughout the entire season
  • Plan a celebratory 5k for the end of the season

Are you ready to take the next step? Click the link below and make your school a Girls on the Run school today! Elementary schools (3rd-6th grade) can register for our Girls on the Run program, and middle schools (7th-8th grade) can sign up today for our Heart & Sole program.

As a reminder even returning schools MUST fill out a new Site Application for the 2018-2019 school year.

Thank you!
