Harrisville—Looking for a fun family outing? Well, look no further than Orion Jr. High School where students will be performing “Shrek, The Musical” March 25, 26, and 27 at 7:00 pm. The musical is based on the 2001 film and 1990 book, “Shrek.” The cast includes 74 students, 10 students in the art crew, and 10 students making up the stage crew.
Mrs. Jolene Zito, who is the drama teacher at Orion Jr. High, is very excited to see her students perform the musical. “I have many talented students here and they are doing a great job learning the music, choreography, and staging,” she said through an e-mail. She also mentioned how several other departments are helping out with the musical including: art teacher, Mr. Westbrook, who is in charge of the art crew that will be painting and constructing the set pieces; CTE teacher Ms. Smith and parent volunteers who will be making all the costumes; and music director Narlene Allen who has assembled a live ensemble that includes a piano, keyboard, guitar, and percussion. Mrs. Zito also mentioned how much she enjoys seeing her students perform and grow in drama. “It [theatre] gives them the opportunity to feel, create, express, react, communicate, and believe in themselves and, hopefully, others. It gives them the chance to have FUN!” Reserved seating is available at http://www.orion.weber.k12.ut.us/ , so don’t miss out.
