There will be a South Willard Water Company meeting which is scheduled for April 2014, according to the South Willard Water articles of Incorporation as there is every year. A special meeting late last year resulted in the members accepting new by-laws for the Corporation, but not accepting the new articles of incorporation. That presents a quandary for business going forward, in the opinion of water user, Don Visser, because the current articles of incorporation and the current by-laws are inconsistent.
After last year’s meeting, a committee was set up to investigate the reasons that the water users (members) voted against the then newly proposed articles of incorporation. Because no changes to the articles of incorporation were approved, each user is still considered a share holder and has a vote.
Mr. Visser says that the committee asked him to submit his concerns and reasoning to help resolve the issues. He said he has done so, and has received a response from the committee in which the committee agreed with some of his opinions, but not others. He says that the committee agreed that the members should have a vote if South Willard Water wanted to sell property or go into debt. He says that the Board has apparently not made other decisions that it is willing to make public yet, but perhaps they will at the annual April meeting. Board President Jayson Harames did not respond to the Sentinel inquiries by the time this report was submitted.
