Plain City—Drama students at Fremont High are ready for the community to see them perform the Tony award-winning Broadway musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Drama teacher, Aubrey Obray, really hopes that everyone will come out to support these students. “Even if members of the community are unfamiliar with the title of this show, it is no reason to stay away,” she said. “It is truly delightful and it'll be a surprise. It will be something new that most people outside of the theater profession probably haven't seen before. It's really very exciting.” The musical centers on a man putting on his favorite record of a 1928 fictional musical and features characters such as two lovers, two gangsters, and an intoxicated chaperone.
The cast is comprised of 75 students, 20 crew members, 30 students in orchestra, and several parents and volunteers. Dates for the musical are: November 14, 15, 17, 21, and 22 at Fremont High School. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.fhs.weber.k12.ut.us/. “The students learn… that it takes everything about their own lives to create truly memorable and REAL characters on stage,” Aubrey said. “I just hope that the community will take a chance and come see what FHS has to offer. I think they'll be surprised at the quality and caliber of talent we continually put on our stage.”
