FYI to those who don't take the paper, the News Journal published a notice this week about a public hearing on January 17, 7pm at the county building for the rezoning of a large parcel in South Willard by Blue Ox Development.

Yes, for those who are interested in this development Kent Davis did the math and sent this to Blue Ox.

This open letter from Kent Davis to Blue Ox.

I have a question of the haul out from the site

In your third point you indicate there will be 500,000 tons annually export from the site.

If my math is correct that will be 15,000 + or - truck loads if they are the 18 yard units or 28,000+or - 10 yard trucks or another way to look at it would be between 300 and 600 trucks every week.

Or on an 8 hour day 5 days a week between 8 trucks per hour and 15 trucks per hour.

I am sure the highway will not handle that amount of traffic effectively along with the current and planned growth as well.

I think this is a big problem.

If this is correct I am sure you have a show stopper.

So if you want to have a say in our community please be at the planning meeting hearing and be heard.

Our wonderful hardworking mail lady Michele Sherman shared a few thoughts on the snow removal and mail. “I'm just rolling back into town and I got a text from my boss saying they were just finishing up my mail route for the day. Some of the routes are still not back. I know there was a lot of mail brought back to the post office and it will go back out tomorrow for delivery.

Here are some cute, little snow reminders:

•             If we can't pull in to your mailbox and pull away from it we are supposed to skip it. A walking path doesn't count.

•             If you've cleared it once and the plows go by and bury it again it is still the residents responsibility to clear it again.

•             It isn't safe or even feasible for us to get out at every mailbox because we can't reach it.

•             Lastly, just know that we want you to get your mail. We don't skip you because we are lazy. It is more of a hassle to have to take it back and deal with it again.

Happy Winter!

Garbage pick-up- new route!!! Econo Waste, our garbage hauler, has notified us a new driver has taken over the route in Willard. The new driver is starting on the West side of town instead of the East. This change has begun and there have been some challenges. Please have your garbage out on Sunday night. If dogs in the area are a nuisance by getting into the garbage containers, please report them to Box Elder Co. Dispatch at 435-734-3800 (option 0). Please remember to keep cans at least 8 ft. apart and do not overfill the cans (lid open more than 2 inches). We appreciate your patience as we all work through this change.
