Watching and photographing mountain goats
What: This weekend, you can see dozens of mountain goats at a free DWR wildlife-viewing event on the Tushar Mountains. This is a great opportunity to see and photograph the goats at fairly close range. DWR personnel will help guide you to a viewing spot and provide information about the goats and other wildlife in the area.
When: Aug. 11, meet at 8 a.m. at the Cardwell convenience store (215 N. Main St. in Beaver). From there, participants will caravan to the viewing site on the Tushar Mountains. For details, see https://go.usa.gov/xUfJx.

Electrofishing the Spanish Fork River
What: Next week, DWR biologists will use electrofishing gear to take a closer look at fish populations in the Spanish Fork River. After using a low-level electric current to temporarily stun the fish, biologists will collect essential data before returning them to the water unharmed. The sportfish species that live in the river include cutthroat, rainbow and brown trout. The river’s non-sport species include speckled dace and mottled sculpin. This project will provide valuable information about the health and distribution of the river’s fish populations. Reporters and photographers are invited to join biologists on the water and learn more about how Utah manages its river fisheries.
