US 89 Shoulders Project - June 29, 2017

In observance of Independence Day, crews will not be working July 1-July 4.

 

Current Work

▪ Main line gas work on the east side of the road is nearly complete. This work involves digging trenches along the east side of the road to place the new gas line.
▪ Gas line tie-ins from the east side of the road to the west side are underway.
▪ Crews are continuing to place traffic signs on the west side of the road. Southbound lane restrictions will remain in place during this work.

Please do not move traffic control barrels or cones. These are placed in specific areas to insure the safety of motorists, residents, and construction workers.

▪ Temporary lane closures in the northbound right travel lane are expected over the next few weeks. This will be to accommodate the work that Questar is doing on the current gas line.

Upcoming Work

▪  Crews anticipate begining shoulder work on the east side of the road after the July 4th Holiday.

Project Location

UDOT is widening the shoulders on Main Street (US-89). This work is taking place along US-89 in Willard starting near mile post 426 and extending almost to the junction of SR-126 and US-89.

Purpose of the Project

This project will improve safety for those traveling by automobile and bicycle, by providing a paved standard shoulder in places that now only have a gravel shoulder.

What to Expect

▪ Work will normally occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
▪ Anticipate construction noise and vibrations.
▪ The right travel lane will be closed in the areas in which crews are working.
▪ This project is expected to be complete around Labor Day weekend 2017.
