Salt Lake City, UT, February 21, 2014 -- The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Utah is pleased to be supporting Representative Gage Froerer’s HB 220: LAND USE AMENDMENTS, the First Substitute in the 2014 Legislative Session.
BOMA Utah believes that passage of HB 220: LAND USE AMENDMENTS, First Substitute will have a positive impact on personal property rights, land use, and development while supporting Utah’s economic growth. BOMA Utah urges your support for this Bill during the 2014 Legislative Session.
House Bill 220 includes provisions to:
· Clarify the definition of land use authority, or who has the final say in land use.
· Allow a land use applicant a thorough review of the application process under current laws.
· Reduce uncertainty that existed in previously recorded plats, or plans for parcels of land.
· End, or supersede any contradicting provisions for the same plat.
· Signed agreements to the planned changes by both the owners of the plat and the land use authority.
BOMA Utah supports personal property rights and the economic benefit from well-planned land use and development. Having the what, why, who, and how of land ownership spelled out in simple terms with distinct regulations would be beneficial to both Utah’s governing bodies and private citizens.
On February 18, 2014, BOMA Utah’s Vice President Justin Farnsworth, sent out a call to action, asking BOMA Members to support the bill and educate others on the positive repercussions that will occur with the passing of House Bill 220, stating that,
