Emily Blaine daughter of Nathan and Jennifer Blaine was nominated for Science November Student of the Month by Gregg Cefalo

Emily is a very dedicated and caring student. She shows her demonstrates this qualities in many ways. Emily has a very positive attitude that helps others around her. She works really hard on her understanding. She does this by asking great questions to gain deeper understanding. The questions are very thought trough. This shows her deep understanding of the concepts.

Emily shows her great desire to learn and perform well by her very high achievements. She scored 97 out of 100 on our big test. It covered 4 large units. It is a very impressive score. She shows her dedication to education by making sure she does all the assignments well. The most recent example of this was the STEM Fair. She was presenting at the STEM Fair and was going to miss my Astronomy class. She asked for the homework ahead of time and had it done when we corrected it the next day. It is a rare trait to have students that do the assignment ahead of time.

Tanner Johnston---Language Arts Student of the Month nominated by Mariah Andreasen. Tanner is the son of Ryan Johnston and Valorie Ward I chose Tanner Johnston as the Language Arts Student of the Month because his aptitude, work ethic, and interpersonal communication skills model what I expect from all of my students. Tanner excels in Language Arts. He spends many of his lunch breaks working on a novel which tackles topics well beyond most sophomores’ scopes. The work he turns in demonstrates that he has a firm understanding of organization and text evidence. Additionally, when Tanner adds his voice to classroom conversations, it focuses the conversation or adds a new perspective sparking conversation. Aptitude doesn’t mean a whole lot without hard work; and trust me, Tanner works hard. He advocates for himself by asking conceptual questions about the “essential questions” my class works to understand. His work is a product of concerted effort and is turned in on time. He stays on task and orients his conversations with peers around the topic at hand. Most importantly, Tanner is kind. I’ve heard several of Tanner’s peer’s comment that he is always smiling. Tanner doesn’t have a group or clique. He seems to feel comfortable talking with anyone and his words have always been kind. His ease of conversation gives Tanner an advantage and allows him to take on leadership roles with ease. Thanks, Tanner, for being such a great example to your peers.
