Utah Natural Heritage Fund
Impact reports from the 2017-2018 Utah Natural Heritage Fund grant cycle are rolling in! Check out the progress Wasatch Community Gardens has made with their funding.
"With support from the Utah Natural Heritage Fund, Wasatch Community Gardens and Salt Lake City recently completed construction of the new Gateway Community Garden, located at 46 N. 500 W. in Salt Lake City. Previously, the high-density neighborhood lacked dedicated space for people to grow their own food. Now, a formerly vacant lot has been transformed into a beautiful and welcoming space where 90 individuals and families can grow their own fresh, organic produce, and other community members can enjoy green space and the opportunity to harvest and eat vegetables from the 'U-Pick-It' plots." - Lindsey Smith, Director of Foundation Giving at Wasatch Community Gardens

Each player has autographed and donated the jersey they wore in the USA vs Chile game on August 31, 2018. All proceeds from the raffle, which has raised nearly $20,000 in just two days, will be donated to TWLOHA in support of their 7th annual World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10) and National Suicide Prevention Week (September 9 - September 15, "Tomorrow Needs You." The USWNT has a beautiful community with huge hearts to serve others," shares Tobin Heath."With this jersey raffle, I'm supporting my teammate, friend, and sister Ashlyn Harris and I'm supporting TWLOHA in honor of World Suicide Prevention Day. I believe in this mission and I see the passion that Ashlyn has to bring more light into the world and into the lives of the people who need it most."
TWLOHA founder Jamie Tworkowski adds: "As an organization, we believe that people need other people, that we're meant to win and lose together. We love cheering for these women and we're so honored to that they would choose to support TWLOHA in such a creative, generous way. This raffle is going to introduce TWLOHA's message of hope to thousands, and it's going to allow people to get the help they need and deserve."
According to the World Health Organization, 800,000 people die by suicide globally each year. That's one person every 40 seconds. Additionally, the CDC recently reported that as of 2016, the suicide rate in the United States has risen 25% over the last 20 years.
People can participate in this year's campaign by purchasing the organization's World Suicide Prevention Day pack, joining the conversation on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook using #TomorrowNeedsYou, #WSPD18, and by donating to their fundraising campaign. TWLOHA has set a goal to raise $100,000 to provide counseling scholarships and to help connect thousands of people to local mental health resources.
