Sen. Fillmore to Recognize Utah’s National Blue Ribbon Schools

Sen. Lincoln Fillmore will highlight four Utah schools that were recently recognized by the U.S Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools.
Blue Ribbon Schools exhibit educational excellence, innovative educational practices, turnaround stories, and success in closing subgroup achievement gaps. The ATA's AIM Program Donates Over $40,000 to Utah Youth Education in Shooting Sports
PLEASANT GROVE, UT – Utah Youth Education in Shooting Sports (UTYESS) has been awarded $40,300 from the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s AIM program. This donation will be sent to five Utah teams’ endowment accounts at the MidwayUSA Foundation, as part of the AIM program’s Winter Wonderland Fundraising Challenge. The AIM program matched each team’s minimum donation of $2,000 that was sent to the ATA at a rate of 3:1, up to a max of $6,000 per team. Utah teams donated a combined $10,300.00 to the ATA through the AIM Winter Wonderland Holiday Challenge.
The AIM Winter Wonderland Challenge donation will be made to the following endowment accounts held at the MidwayUSA Foundation:
In addition, the AIM Program donated 100 Browning Knife sets (20 to each of the five teams).
“I have been shooting ATA targets since I was 8 years old and have enjoyed introducing many new youth shooters to the sport that I enjoy,” said Grayson Stuart, Utah State Youth Leader, Age 15. “The continuous support and help that the ATA has provided has been instrumental with helping grow our Utah youth shooting programs. It is with supporters like the ATA that Utah will continue to have great things to shoot towards.“
UTYESS has done a lot of work to promote youth shooting in USAYESS and the ATA’s AIM program throughout the state of Utah. Last year there were 63 shooters in Utah registered in the AIM program. This is a 62% increase over the 39 athletes that were registered the prior year, largely due to UTYESS encouraging their athletes to join the ATA and AIM program. For the 2019-2020 season, UTYESS hopes to have over 300 youth athletes participating in the USAYESS program, many of which may also elect to shoot ATA events.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 6, 2020 – Ambassador Kip Tom, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture, will speak at the annual dinner of USDA’s 96th Agricultural Outlook Forum, USDA’s largest annual meeting, slated for Feb. 21-22, 2019 in Arlington, Va.
Ambassador Tom will address the role of science and innovation in enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring global food security.
Ambassador Tom was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 11, 2019. He is a business leader who transformed his family farm into a substantial family agribusiness in the Midwestern United States, while launching international operations and deploying new technologies. Ambassador Tom also served as a member of the board of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
The 2020 Forum, themed “The Innovation Imperative: Shaping the Future of Agriculture,” will feature a plenary panel on innovation as a solution for farmers and more than thirty sessions covering a wide range of topic relating to commodity outlooks, global trade trends, food loss and waste, frontiers in conservation, and the science of food safety.
Now in its 96th year, the Agricultural Outlook Forum is USDA’s oldest annual meeting and the sector’s premier event, attracting around 1,600 attendees each year from the U.S. and abroad. The forum highlights key issues and timely topics affecting the agriculture sector, offering a unique platform for exchanging information and ideas among producers, processors, policymakers, government officials, and non-governmental organizations, both foreign and domestic.
