T-Ball, softball and baseball sign-ups are being held until April 1st. For children in K-9th grades. Many things are happening at the Rec Center, Pickleball, Jazzercize classes are being held, go to the rec center news for all the updates.
Updates from Mayor Dickamore -The new Smith Family Park is moving right along and with financial help from the DWR, the City will be able to work on finishing the fishing pond. The City recently approved a new contract with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office for Law Enforcement Services.
Updates from Matt Gwynn - An Electronic Use Policy is in the works. This will provide transparency, accountability and will allow Council Members to participate in meetings if absent and a quorum cannot be present. The Weber Fire District has officially began operation of a fully staffed paramedic unit, the sixth such unit in the county. This will provide faster response times for life-saving support personnel and equipment to the residents of northwestern Weber County. Councilman Gwynn will be participating in a table-top exercise with other Weber County Emergency Managers to evaluate communication methods in response to an emergency effecting dams along the Weber River.
Updates from Ken Phippen - Two RAMP Grant applications were submitted in January and a recommendation was made to the Weber County Commission to award Farr West with $300,000 for help in completing Smith Family Park, Phase 1. Completing a Trails Master plan and get Weber Pathways involved to help coordinate connections to surrounding trail systems. Updates from Boyd Ferrin - Farr West Freedom Festival will be held on Monday July 4th this year. Festivities include Breakfast and a Flag raising ceremony, a 5k fun run, a Parade, Dinner and Fireworks. A movie in the park will be held on Friday July 1st. Families and friends are invited to build floats and get kids involved in the parade. As always, we encourage volunteers for all events and invite you to get involved and come and enjoy this year’s Freedom Festival.
Updates from Tom Burkland - Due to changing regulations regarding discharge of phosphorus and ammonia, there could be significant financial impact to Central Weber Sewer District. The new regulations may require construction of new facilities similar to the 2012 expansion project. Central Weber is working to provide data to the Utah DEQ to help set limits for discharge that are easier to meet and have been shown to be protective to the environment.
Weber County Sheriff’s Office Overall, Farr West City has a very low crime rate. The Sheriff’s Office enjoys a strong working relationship with the Mayor and other city officials in combating crime and coming up with innovative, crime-prevention strategies.
