Notice of Municipal Election
The City of Harrisville, Utah, hereby gives notice that a municipal election will be held for Mayor (4 year term), two (2) City Council seats (4 year terms) and one (1) City Council seat (2 year term).
CANDIDACY (UCA 20A-9-203): Candidates shall file a Declaration of Candidacy in person with the City Recorder at the City Offices, 363 W. Independence Blvd., Harrisville, Utah, during office hours and not later than the close of normal office hours between June 1 and June 7. A Nomination Petition may also be filed during the same time period. City office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8am to 5pm and Friday, 8am to 12pm. Filing fee is $25. Candidate packets are available at the City Recorders Office and on the City's website at: www.cityofharrisville.com
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CANDIDATE ARE (UCA 20A-9-203):
1. United States Citizen.
2. Registered voter of the municipality (City of Harrisville)
3. Resident of the municipality (City of Harrisville) or recently annexed territory for a period of 12 consecutive months immediately before the date of the election.
4. In accordance with Utah Constitution Article IV, Section 6, any mentally incompetent person, and person convicted of a felony, or any person convicted of treason or a crime against the elective franchise may not hold office in this state until the right to hold elective office is restored.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, individuals needing special accommodations to participate in the meeting, should notify the City Recorder's Office, 801.782.9648 at least three working days prior to the meeting.
