This summer, the Fostering Media Connections staff has been hard at work on two major projects that we are excited to roll out this fall. Both are aimed at bringing clarity and scrutiny to key aspects of the child welfare system: foster care recruitment and retention, and federal policy.

Sen. Lee Hosts Utah Honor Flight in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON – This afternoon, the office of Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) hosted a 150-person group made up of Utah Honor Flight Veterans and their family members for a special Jell-O event and Capitol tour. Due to the threat of adverse weather hitting the Washington, D.C. area, Sen. Lee was honored to coordinate and host this event in the Capitol to commemorate and honor the veterans and their sacrifice.

Prices in the West region, as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), rose 0.2 percent in August, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. The August increase was influenced by higher prices for shelter and education and communication.

Over the last 12 months, the CPI-U advanced 3.6 percent. Energy prices jumped 13.4 percent, largely the result of higher prices for gasoline. The index for all items less food and energy increased 3.1 percent over the year.
