UAC Honors Weber County Commissioner Kerry Gibson

Gibson is the first from Weber County to have received this award.

OGDEN, UTAH, February 19, 2014: One of Weber County’s own took top honors from the Utah Association of Counties (UAC) this past year.  Recently, a selection committee consisting of over 300 county officials across the state selected Commissioner Gibson as the 2013 Overall County Official of the Year.

"I am extremely honored and thankful to receive this award.  However, I would not want this to over-shadow the day-to-day efforts of all our elected county officials," said Gibson in acceptance of the award. "We all work hard to make Utah a better place to live.  It takes our entire team working together to be successful and effective for our constituents."

Gibson has always been an advocate for conservative principles and constitutionally based solutions to today’s political matters. According to UAC’s committee, he continues to uphold standards of honesty, integrity, generosity of spirit, and community commitment. He is a tireless advocate for Weber County and spends countless hours working with and representing the citizens.

As a Republican, Gibson served in Utah’s House of Representatives from 2005-2010. His ability to understand the many challenges facing our legislative system has helped to position Weber County for financial and economic success. This includes the County’s recent AAA bond rating. Weber County is now one of only two counties in Utah to have this highest possible rating which will ultimately save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the coming years. Gibson is proud of this achievement and acknowledges the strong leadership in the county, its healthy financial position and affordable debt profile as drivers for the county receiving this exceptional rating.

Gibson is the first from Weber County to have received this award.  “This is exciting for Weber County and increases our presence among counties throughout the State. Sound leadership, strong financial oversight, and conservative taxation have always been priorities for me. This award gives recognition to the thorough job that Weber County officials are performing for their citizens.”
