Honorary Convention Chair

Friday, July 10, 2015 - 8:30am

I'm honored to announce that Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes will serve as Honorary Chair of the Utah Republican Party 2015 Organizing Convention. We are extremely fortunate that one of our Party's leading trailblazers has agreed to provide his support to our Convention.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes said,
"I would not be Attorney General if we did not have a strong, viable and inclusive Republican Party. I remain committed to supporting this great organization and ensuring the message of Conservatism and the Republican platform resonate with next generation leadership and minority communities in Utah and nationwide who are critically important to the future success of our party."

After winning election in 2014 by one of the largest margins nationwide, Utah Attorney General Reyes was selected in 2015 by the Republican National Committee as one of its four national rising stars. He currently leads law enforcement training to empower other countries in combating sexual and labor trafficking, child pornography, counterfeiting and cybercrimes and holds leadership positions in national bi-partisan organizations of his fellow Attorneys General. Reyes garnered international acclaim when news broke of his travel to a dangerous area of South America last year in a covert sting, where he posed as a buyer to liberate 54 children from a sexual trafficking ring. Reyes also received overwhelming praise for spurring 2015 legislation creating a first-in-the-nation database of the most predatory white collar criminals to protect citizens from losing hundreds of millions of dollars annually in fraudulent investment schemes.

Prior to taking office, Attorney General Reyes had been a partner in a small venture fund, general counsel for a tech company and a litigation partner at the largest Utah law firm, where he spent fourteen years handling blockbuster cases, including the $9 Billion Sir Alan Stanford case. He has argued or briefed cases in federal and state courts throughout the country at the trial and appellate level and served as a Judge Pro Tem for over ten years in Utah’s Third District Court. He has also lent his legal expertise to media outlets ranging from Fox National Business News to Bloomberg News to The Economist.

Attorney General Reyes has been one of the Party's most avid supporters and we are very proud to have him serve as Honorary Convention Chair. We look forward to the exemplary service that he will continue to provide our great state.
