Updates from Utah Gov - Organizations

Friday, November 11, 2016 - 2:45pm

Melbourne, FL - November 11, 2016 - In light of the fear and uncertainty that has spread across America following this week's election, To Write Love on Her Arms has shared a brand new post titled, "An Open Letter to Those Afraid of What Comes Next." The letter shares one of the many messages the organization has received since Tuesday, expressing fear for LGBT youth and other minorities. In it, TWLOHA expresses the desire for their readers to remember that, however hopeless they may feel right now, they do not and will not have to endure it alone.

"If you are reading this and are feeling hopeless, please know that we're holding the hope for you, and we will continue to do so as long as there is fear or ignorance or hatred in the world...Elections come and go. Leaders come and go. Please remember this: Love is still the most powerful force on the planet."

To Write Love on Her Arms is a nonprofit dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. Since its start in 2006, TWLOHA has donated over $1.6 million directly into treatment and recovery and answered over 180,000 emails from over 100 countries. For more information, please visit: www.twloha.com.

Over the past ten years, TWLOHA has been heralded by press and seen on NBC Nightly News, CBS Sunday Morning, MSNBC, Rolling Stone, Paste Magazine, Relix, US Magazine, Glamour, Yahoo!, The Huffington Post, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, NYLON Guys, MTV, Elle, NPR, and so many more. The organization has seen support from numerous celebrities including actress Jessica Chastain, actor Jared Padalecki, Miley Cyrus, Liv Tyler, Joaquin Phoenix, actress Sophia Bush, singer/songwriter Mat Kearney, USA soccer stars Alex Morgan, Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger, singer/songwriter Christina Perri, rock band Switchfoot, pop rock act The Summer Set, Hayley Williams (Paramore), among others.

This past September, TWLOHA wrapped its 5th annual campaign to honor National Suicide Prevention Week and World Suicide Prevention Day. The organization was overwhelmed by the amount of love and support shown during this year's campaign, titled "And So I Kept Living,"which, thanks to the help of supporters all over the world, raised more than $98K for treatment and counseling.

James,

This week has been a huge win for Americans that are fed up with the status-quo in Washington, DC. The election of Donald Trump reflects what many grassroots conservatives like yourself have known for years - Americans are tired of politicians failing to deliver on their promises to get the federal government off their backs and out of their wallets.

In 2010, Americans gave Republicans control of the House of Representatives. In 2014 they gave them control of the Senate, and now a Republican has been elected President of the United States.

There are no more excuses for Republicans to fail to accomplish conservative victories for the people they represent.

Early in 2017, we can see the full repeal of Obamacare, the appointment of a conservative jurist to the Supreme Court, and a massive rollback of President Obama’s regulatory regime.

It is critical that we as conservatives unite around policy solutions and hold all of our elected officials, from Congress to the White House, accountable to passing conservative solutions.

How can you help?

By joining the Heritage Action Sentinel Program, a committed volunteer organization of 16,500 grassroots activists from around the country, you will ensure that Washington continues to hear your voice and that the policies enacted represent the views of Americans not the special interests that have controlled this city for too long.

Becoming a Sentinel is easy. Just fill out this short survey here: heritageaction.com/sentinel and someone from our team will contact you.

It’s a new day in America, but it’s up to you to ensure we achieve all that we want to achieve in the next four years.

About Christmas in Color: Christmas in Color is owned and operated by Utah’s popular Ice Castles, LLC and Holdman Lighting. In 2006, co-founder, Richard Holdman, created an animated Christmas display on his house and backed up traffic for 2 miles as thousands drove by to watch. A YouTube video of the home display garnered well over 20 million views in a couple of months. Christmas in Color continues this tradition of bringing joy and happiness to families throughout Utah during the Christmas season.
