Pleasant View—Coach Mark Larsen is excited to see Weber High boys’ basketball team compete this season. He is in his fifth year as the head coach and says that even though the team was young last year, this year everyone is coming back stronger and more skilled. “I love the competition that basketball brings. I also enjoy the fact that it is such a fast paced game. You don't have much time to dwell on anything, just focus on playing the next play,” he said through an e-mail. He also mentioned that some of the team’s biggest strengths include chemistry and leadership since many of the boys on the team have been playing together since they were in grade school, which will help give them an advantage.
Coach Larsen says he also enjoys watching the players grow over the years as they become better people both on and off the court. “My favorite part [about coaching] is the interaction with kids, and I get a lot of enjoyment of watching kids grow over the years that they are involved in high school athletics.” The team is definitely prepared to face any competition that comes their way and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with.
