Gov. Herbert statement on the death of artist James C. Christensen

 

SALT LAKE CITY (Jan. 9, 2017) – Gov. Gary R. Herbert issued a statement following the death of Utah artist James C. Christensen:

 

“Jim has long been a dear friend to me, Jeanette and our entire family. A shining example of the importance of making meaningful contributions to community and culture, he was truly one of Utah’s – and the world’s – finest artists. From his artwork proudly displayed in the governor’s mansion to his indelible teachings over two decades at Brigham Young University, Jim’s work always provides an entertaining view into his unique perspective on life. His is a legacy of passion for the arts and an influence for good that will long endure.”

 

Christensen was a recipient of the Governor’s Mansion Artist Series award for visual arts and the Governor’s Award for Art by the Utah Arts Council, and a close personal friend of the governor’s for many years.
