PRESIDENT NIEDERHAUSER THANKS SENATOR BRIAN SHIOZAWA
SALT LAKE CITY — President Wayne Niederhauser thanks Senator Brian Shiozawa who announced his resignation from the Utah Senate yesterday. Senator Shiozawa accepted a position as the Regional Director of Intergovernmental and External Affairs of District 8 of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“I would like to extend our appreciation to Senator Shiozawa for his honorable service,” said President Wayne Niederhauser. “He represented the people of Utah Senate District 8 with dignity and integrity. His expertise, especially in the healthcare field, was invaluable. While we compliment the Trump administration for their great choice, Senator Shiozawa’s regular presence and friendship in the legislature will be greatly missed. On behalf of the Utah Senate we congratulate Senator Shiozawa and wish him and his family the very best in this exciting new opportunity to serve.”
First elected January 1, 2013 and re-elected in 2017, Senator Brian Shiozawa’s unique background and experience in the healthcare field brought an important perspective to the Utah Senate. His calm and deliberate manner helped bring people together to solve complex issues. At the time of his resignation Senator Shiozawa was serving as the Senate Chair of the Business, Economic Development, and Labor Appropriations Subcommittee and the Chair of the Senate Economic Development and Workforce Services Confirmation Committee.
“I want to thank the citizens of Utah Senate District 8 for whom I have had the honor to serve these two terms,” said Senator Shiozawa. “While my role with you will now be different, I am honored to serve in this new capacity and will strive to continue to serve this great state in all the ways I can.”

See bison in the Book Cliffs
What: Almost nine years ago, the DWR moved bison from southern Utah’s Henry Mountains into the Book Cliffs. The transplant established a new herd of free-roaming bison in the state. Biologists have kept a close eye on the young herd over the years and plan to check on the animals in early December.
