KNEADERS BAKERY & CAFE PARTNERS WITH SANTA TO HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPITALS

Salt Lake City, Utah — Families gathered at Kneaders Bakery & Cafe to spend time with Santa, eat breakfast for dinner and raise money for local children’s hospitals.

Kneaders’ annual “Evening with Santa” on Dec. 7 took place in all 59 locations across eight states, and raised over $9,000 through sales of its Chunky Cinnamon French Toast.  At a local level, Kneaders raised over $3,400 during the two hour event, which will be donated to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to support children’s hospitals this holiday season,” said James Worthington, Kneaders CEO. “We appreciate our customers who supported this holiday tradition and we look forward to continued success in the years to come.”

“Evening with Santa,” initiated by Kneaders founders Gary and Colleen Worthington, provides a way for families of all economic situations to take a free photo with Santa, share a meal together if they choose, and raise money for a good cause.

“Evening with Santa,” now in its fifth year, brought both children and parents together to enjoy and relax in a warm and festive atmosphere. Through the years, the event has raised nearly $30,000 for children’s hospitals.

As part of their year-long 20th anniversary celebration, Kneaders All-You-Can-Eat Chunky Cinnamon French toast, which is normally only offered during breakfast hours, will be offered all day long to dine-in customers from Dec. 26 – Jan. 1.

RESPONSE to 60 percent cut to free admission days at national parks

DENVER—The National Park Service announced Tuesday it would hold only four admission fee-free days in 2018. This represents a 60 percent cut from 2017, and a 75 percent reduction from the 16 free days in 2016. At the same time, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke continues to support drastic fee increases at America’s most popular national parks.

The Center for Western Priorities released the following statement from Advocacy Director Jesse Prentice-Dunn:

“Not everyone can book a helicopter or charter a boat when they want to visit our national parks. America’s parks must remain affordable for working families—Secretary Zinke seems determined to turn them into a playground for the rich. Instead of pushing massive increases to entrance fees and cutting fee-free days, Ryan Zinke should ensure all Americans have access to our parks and public lands.”
