Rep. Bishop Thanks Counties for Continued Support

SALT LAKE CITY – On Friday, March 11th, representatives from Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, Grand, San Juan, Summit & Uintah Counties gathered at the Utah State Capitol to voice their support for the Public Lands Initiative (PLI) process (Information available at UtahPLI.com). In a statement released jointly, these counties collectively stated the following:

“We, the duly elected officials represent the people who live within our respective counties. We look forward to continuing our work on the PLI to insure the final product reflects the views and ideas generated from the public meetings held within each county. We believe the future of effective public lands management lies in collaboration and cooperation.”

In response, Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) offered the following statement:

“I am grateful for the strong support the PLI process is receiving from these Utah counties with leaders who understand the need for certainty in land planning issues. These county officials give a voice to so many Utahns who depend on Utah’s public lands for their livelihood, recreation, and worship. I look forward to continued collaboration with these counties as we prove that conservation and economic development can coexist in the West.”
