This week the Senate will consider Senator Hatch’s plan to permanently repeal the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), also known as the “Doc Fix.” The plan, which recently passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the House of Representatives, will replace SGR with a responsible system to ensure that doctors are rewarded for providing quality care based on health outcomes, and that medicare patients, particularly the elderly, have access to the care they need, without raising taxes on hardworking families in Utah and around the country.
As Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Hatch oversees all of the nation’s entitlement programs. His plan to repeal SGR is a step toward larger, responsible reforms that will make medicare and other entitlement programs more sustainable for future generations.
