Richard J Johnson releases ‘The Princess and the Rogue: The Spell of the Sorceress’
CENTENNIAL, Colo. – Richard J Johnson continues the thrilling and enthralling adventure of two unlike heroes in his latest fiction featuring “The Princess and the Rogue: The Spell of the Sorceress” (published by Xlibris). Masterfully fused with elements of myths, legends and historic places, this tale imparts an underlying message about believing in one’s self and the importance of kindness and other virtues.
The book tells of a unique friendship between a princess from China and a penniless street thief from Greece, and their quest to find the mystical Tears of Hathor so they can use them to save the Chinese empire from a curse that has caused a terrible drought. In this sequel, Li returns to China only to fall under a dark spell by a sorceress, and the only hope is that Aramis, who himself is trapped in a prison thousands of miles away, can help with an unusual fellowship of friends.
“At one level it is simply an adventure story, and at a deeper level it is about believing in oneself. My main goal is to provide a story that creates an escape from the current world, a story to feed dreams and the imagination,” published author Johnson shares.
Suspense and adventure-packed, “The Princess and the Rogue” will appeal to middle grades, young adults and adult readers as the tale goes into another world and another time, emphasizing that the future, even if it appears bleak, can be changed. “If one believes in the self, and has hope and perseverance, even the most challenging problems can be overcome. It is a powerful message for the new generation, and will spark optimism instead of pessimism, and hope over a fatalism.”

Fiction book tells poignant tale of family struggle based on young boy’s perspective
SPRINGERVILLE, Ariz. – Arnold Robinson’s “The Second Born” (published by Xlibris) illustrates a boy’s determination to maintain his family, while reeling from the repercussions of their reverend father choosing vice over virtue, self-indulgence over responsibility.
The two brothers try to help their sweet mother as she struggles due to their scoundrel father’s evil ways. Set in 1960 Appalachia, this gripping story follows a large poor family’s survival.
“Preaching hellfire and brimstone one minute and leaping into the Devil’s holy water the next, he drags his family through a cruel and uncertain life.”
Writing any time he got a chance, it took Robinson 16 years to work on his book series “The Second Born.” “I was born a storyteller and have always entertained everyone around me with tales from my young life,” he says. “Many tales are out of time, many funny, some are exaggerated, but all are real. Folks often comment in amazement, “You should write a book!”
An excerpt from this book:
I couldn’t tell which happened first, the door slamming behind Dad or the split second it took for his whistle to reach the other end of the hallway. It was the one we dreaded most, with its sharp sudden stops, and he was whistling it loud, with quick sips of air between.
“The Second Born” paints the harsh reality of a hard and uncertain life, seen through the eyes of a young boy.

Author shares second in series of inspirational collection of morning, evening Christian devotionals
STAFFORD, Va. – Robert L. Thompson wanted to provide Christian readers a method to review selected Scriptures in the context of theme based devotions. “A Closer Look II: The Second in a Series of An Inspirational Collection of Morning and Evening Devotionals.” “A Closer Look II” is (published by WestBow Press).
Developed from the Lord’s inspiration during times of personal prayer and Bible study, this collection of devotionals includes recollections from notes taken while the author was participating with friends and family during worship and small group Bible studies. Included in this series are a number of devotions on the names of God. They are not intended to replace one’s reading of God’s Word—the Holy Bible. Neither are they intended to replace one’s time spent in personal prayer on a daily basis. Rather, they are intended to encourage the reader to take a closer look at God’s Word during quiet times in the presence of the Lord. They can be read over the course of a month and then repeated in subsequent months.
Readers have several options for reviewing the text. The author points out that the reader can choose to read a devotion on each day of the month (morning or evening), the reader can choose from the titles included in the Table of Contents, and there is a handy Scripture reference at the end of the text where the reader can choose a favorite verse and go directly to that devotion in the text.
“A Closer Look II” is intended to emphasize and minister the truth of God’s word along with the importance of spending quality time each day in personal prayer and Bible study. It allows readers to take a closer walk with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

FROM THE DESK OF
DAMIAN W. KIDD
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Damian Kidd issues statement on Chaffetz town hall
Damian Kidd says Chaffetz denied constituents of rights to free speech and to petition government
American Fork, Utah - February 10 2017 — Republican Damian Kidd, challenger to Jason Chaffetz, released the following statement in regards to Jason Chaffetz’s early departure from the town hall he held on February 9, 2017 in Salt Lake County.
“It is reprehensible that Representative Jason Chaffetz cut his town hall meeting short and left early. Hundreds of constituents had gathered to exercise their Constitutional rights to petition government and exercise free speech. Many never got a chance to ask their questions of their representative. Now in his ninth year in D.C., it’s clear that Mr. Chaffetz always makes time for the television news cameras, but does not make adequate time for the people he is supposed to represent. As seen in both the hearings he chairs and this town hall, Mr. Chaffetz’s demeanor and actions have become issues. He has become a great divider and an ineffective leader, constantly self-promoting while disregarding his constituents.”
