NOVEMBER 16, 2017 - AUSTIN, TX - The Cuckoos are premiering a video for their single, "A Little Bit Funky" exclusively via Surviving The Golden Age. Watch HERE. "I'm particularly excited to release this track and video because it gives people a little taste of what else we can do", vocalist/keyboardist Kenneth Frost explains. "It shows a little more diversity as a rock & roll funk/dance track, rather than just another psych rock song." "A Little Bit Funky" will be featured on a deluxe version of the band's self-titled EP (originally released in April 2017), due out on 11/24. Pre-order for the mini-album is available here: http://hyperurl.co/TheCuckoosNewSunrise. For more information, please visit: http://www.thecuckoosaustin.com/.

With the release of their self-titled debut EP, The Cuckoos garnered praise for their ability to bring back the sounds of the 1960s through their original songs. Relix Magazine championed the album, writing, "It builds on the band's captivating blend of genres, evoking the 1960s through a contemporary lens." Glide Magazine also likened the "rock and roll magic being conjured" by The Cuckoos to "The Doors, Joy Division and Rick James writing songs with Tame Impala," while Pancakes And Whiskey lauded the band's classic, yet modern sound by writing, "Immediately after pressing play we are transported to another time, and possibly another dimension." Similarly, Classic Rock Magazine christened The Cuckoos' psychedelic garage rock "spectacular," declaring the band "hip young dudes who mine the late sixties acid rock scene for inspiration, but sound so authentic you'll think you're having a flashback."

Following its release, the EP hit #53 on NACC Radio 200, #13 on NACC Radio 200 Adds and #34 on FMQB Alt Spec Albums. The success of the EP also helped make possible a two-week tour of the UK, a show in New York City and their first-ever Mexico dates taking place next month.

The Cuckoos were formed in 2014 by lead vocalist/keyboardist, Kenneth Frost, and lead guitarist/backing vocalist, Dave North. To flesh out their lineup, North introduced Frost to a pair of his longtime friends, including powerhouse drummer Cole Koenning and bassist Eric Ross. Together, despite their young ages, the four musicians have quickly amassed a body of work that evokes a nostalgic classic-rock sound, yet remains fresh and innovative.

OSBA to continue holiday tradition with Ballet West Nutcracker

Ogden, Utah — Ogden Symphony Ballet Association will present Ballet West’s critically acclaimed Nutcracker ballet in Ogden on November 24 and 25. Enjoy Tchaikovsky’s timeless score and Willam Christensen’s historic and renowned choreography, just in time to kick off the holiday season. Join Clara, the Nutcracker Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy as they lead the audience through the magical and enchanting tale of adventure and the power of friendship.

The story opens on a holiday celebration, complete with a Christmas Tree and festive decorations. Family and friends dance and rejoice at a holiday party. All the children are gifted dolls by the adults at the party. When Clara’s doll is broken by another child, Clara’s magician godfather gives her a beautiful nutcracker painted to look like a soldier.

After the party is over and all the revelers have left, Clara goes back to the Christmas Tree to admire her Nutcracker and she falls asleep. In a fantastical dream, Clara is transported to a world full of wonder and magic. Clara gets caught in the crossfires as mice and gingerbread men engage in an epic war. Clara’s beloved Nutcracker grows to life-size and protects her from the murderous Mouse King and his minions. The Mouse King and his lackeys retreat and the Nutcracker transforms into a handsome Prince. Clara and her Nutcracker Prince return to his kingdom where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, who has been watching over the Land of the Sweets in the Prince’s absence.

The citizens of the Nutcracker Prince’s kingdom perform a variety of dances to celebrate the Nutcracker Prince’s victory and honor Clara. Some of these dances include the Russian soldiers, Mother Goose and the Waltz of the Sugar Plum Fairies. At the conclusion of their reverie, Clara and the Nutcracker Prince return to Clara’s Christmas Tree, where she awakens.

Ballet West’s Nutcracker will take place on November 24 at 7 pm and November 25 at 2 pm and 7 pm at the Val A. Browning Center on Weber State University. Tickets range from $15 to $45. Nutcracker is OSBA’s most popular show and tickets are going fast! Call 801-399-9214 or visit www.symphonyballet.org to order your tickets today! No holiday season is complete without The Nutcracker!
