MAY 16, 2017 - CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA - Alternative pop band, Drawing North, are premiering their new single "Think About You" with Wonderland Magazine. Listen HERE. The song, which will be featured on Drawing North's forthcoming EP, due out this spring, serves as a follow-up to previous single, "Stay", of which Billboard noted, "The song glides on a smooth beat, playing with the fun poppy sound that pours out in each of the lyrics." Drawing North is composed of Michael 'Po' Pogson (lead vocals), Drew Southwell (piano, drums, guitar, vocals) and Jake Allen (bass, guitar, drums). Since forming in 2010, the three friends have constantly been at work, whether it be booking their own 40-date school tour of Australia, recording acoustic releases endorsed by Joel Madden of Good Charlotte or playing festivals such as SXSW, Sundance Film Festival, Australia Celebrates Live, Vans Warped Tour Australia and Groovin The Moo.

 

 

In 2016, Drawing North released their debut album, El Dorado, which was produced by James Wisner (Paramore) and released through UniversalMusic. The album peaked at #3 on the iTunescharts and received across-the-day airplay at NovaBrisbane, Canberra'sFM104.7 and Sydney'sKIISFMPlanetRock.

 

Today, Drawing North have played over 200 shows and supported international and homegrown artists such as Paul Kelly, Jessica Mauboy and Sheppard. As a result of constant touring and online promotion, the band accumulated an ever-growing online fan base, with over 35,000 fans across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and over 400,000 views on YouTube.

 

"Think About You" is the latest single from Drawing North's recently completed EP, due out this spring.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), represent the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. All middle and high schools in the U.S., along with all Girl Scout councils, county 4-H organizations, Red Cross chapters, YMCAs and affiliates of HandsOn Network, were eligible to select a student or member for a local Prudential Spirit of Community Award last November. Dollar General Literacy Foundation Awards Local Grant

Grant provides funding for adult literacy program

 

Goodlettsville, Tennessee – May 15, 2017 — The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced a $5,000 adult literacy grant to Interweave Solutions.org this morning. These funds are aimed at supporting the organization’s Refugee Business English Project that will positively impact approximately 105 area residents.

 

“Dollar General is excited to provide funding to support literacy and education throughout the 44 states we serve,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO.  “Providing these grants and supporting the communities we call home reflects our mission of Serving Others and it’s rewarding to see the impact these funds have.”

 

This grant is part of more than $7.5 million that the Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded this morning. Recipients of today’s grant announcements plan to use Dollar General Literacy Foundation funds to help adults learn to read, prepare for the high school equivalency exam, promote childhood summer reading or learn English. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation is also currently accepting applications for youth literacy grants through Thursday, May 18, 2017. Youth literacy grants support schools, public libraries and nonprofit organizations in implementing new or expanding existing literacy efforts. Funding can be used to purchase new technology, equipment, books, materials or software to enhance literacy programs. Applications are available online at www.dgliteracy.org.
