Farr West—Construction on the first phase of the Smith Family Park has begun. Phase one includes an equestrian warm-up and riding arenas, pickle-ball courts, playground, restrooms, bowery, parking and open green space. Construction of phase two, which is still in the engineering and final-design phase, will include a community fishery and will begin in the near future.
Watch for the Pre-disaster Mitigation Plan to be posted on the Farr West City website. This plan identifies areas of capital infrastructure in Farr West that are vulnerable to disaster or failure such as earthquakes, or flooding from canal breaks. Identifying these areas and incorporating them into the plan puts Farr West City in a position to recoup costs from FEMA in repairing or replacing infrastructure in the event of damage or failure during a natural or catastrophic disaster.
First – 9 grade girls’ basketball season started on October 24 and will run through December 5. Boys’ basketball season will start January 2016. It’s not too late to sign up. Signups are open through November 15.
Weber Fire District had an open house on October 1st with an AirCare helicopter, face painting, train rides and a chance to try on the firemen’s turnout gear. Everyone had a great time. Weber Fire District wants to remind everyone that October is time to change the batteries in the smoke detectors—“Hear the BEEP where you SLEEP.”
Farr West has approved a site plan for Burger King located at approximately 2700 North and Wasatch View Drive. This is contingent upon compliance of the engineers and UDOT’s recommendations on the entrance and exits.
The City wishes to welcome Cleaning & Windows LLC, Jojeans Beautifully Clean and Barker Garage Doors. The City has also accepted the bid for the lighted sign at the Smith Family Park. The Council approved Hales Estates Subdivision Phase 1 and The Center at Farr West Phase 1 Subdivision.
Walquist Junior High has just ended the 1 quarter of the 2015-16 year. With many excited young youth, the football season is coming to an end. And the basketball season is just getting underway.
