Lucky Ladies Make Difference in Local Communities

Weber County—One group of ladies is striving to make a big difference in their local communities. The Lucky Ladies R/A riding group was created with the purpose of providing a strong female motorcycle riding group that supports the fun and excitement of riding, while working to help promote a sisterhood of lady riders and to assist in helping woman and children in our local communities.

On March 14, 2011, the Lucky Ladies R/A was founded in Leesville, Louisiana, by Billie Suiters. The Louisiana Chapter has held 3 Annual give-back events called the “Community Benefit Rides” for their community, especially for the women and children in their communities who had been affected by domestic violence.  In July of 2015, the Utah chapter was founded by Billie Suiters, Helen Martinez, Angela Everett, Elle Whitten, Vickie Baica, Lesa Tueller, Lori Ann Jacques, Jennifer LeCaviler, Gay Hillan, Marla Bunker, Shelley Saxton, Shari Yurick and Tina Singleton. They currently have 14 members, which consists of riders and non-riders.

The LLRA works to provide a sense of sisterhood with their riders and to promote a positive reputation for female motorcyclists and enthusiasts. While doing this, they strive to play a vital role in family and community development.

So far, the Lucky Ladies R/A have supported several events this year that include: The Children’s Justice Ride for the Weber/Morgan County Children’s Justice Center, Ride to Zero for the CVMA Veterans Suicide Awareness, Old Bones Two Bit Street Motorcycle Show in support of the Huntsman Cancer Center, Old Bones Breast Cancer Awareness Ride in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, and the Aayden’s Journey Fundraiser to help with medical bills for a single mother with a sick child.

They have several events coming up, such as: Women’s Retreat House donation collection—this event is going on now until November 22nd. They are collecting all kinds of items to support the women of the Retreat House. Boxes have been set up in numerous areas in the community. The Lucky Ladies are also doing a fun pin-up girl calendar that  will go on sale to the public in November.  All proceeds will be split between the Weber County RAD Division and the Women’s Retreat House. Also in November, they are sponsoring 5 families for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Lucky Ladies will provide a turkey and all the fixings to families in need.

You have to hand it to these Lucky Ladies; they are making a difference in the lives of women and children doing what they love!  If you would like to help out, you can make a donation.  Contact Kristi Hensley @ 801-814-1618 or email her at hensleykristi06@yahoo.com.   If you would like to donate to the Weber/Morgan RAD Division, please give them to the Weber County Sheriff’s department. Also look for donation boxes in various locations throughout the community.
