Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity to Dedicate its 95th Home

SALT LAKE CITY - April 13, 2017–  Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity with the help of volunteers, donors, and corporations from the Salt Lake area,  is celebrating its 95th home dedication today at 4:00 p.m., making the Lopez family’s dream of owning a home become a reality.

The home is located at 2783 S. Millard Cove in Magna, UT, 84044 and the public is invited to join in the celebration.

Vanessa Lopez dedicated more than 225 hours of sweat equity helping to build her home as well as other Habitat homes in the community.  Lopez has been motivated to complete all the requirements to earn her place in the Habitat program including completing financial literacy courses and homeowner workshops.

“Now we have a home to make great memories in and finally stop bouncing from place to place. I knew I wanted stability for my family and I was excited to learn I was selected to be a part of the program. As a single mom I knew I had to work even harder to achieve my goals and with the help of Habitat I am so excited that I get to check one more thing off of my list of dreams and finally have a place to call 'home' for my boys and I,” said Vanessa Lopez.

Like other Habitat families, The Lopez family will receive a zero percent interest home loan from Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity. Their mortgage payments will help Habitat build additional homes in Salt Lake and Tooele Counties.

“We are so pleased to be dedicating this home to such a great family,” said Ed Blake, Executive Director of Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity. “This home offers the Lopez family stability and opportunity and is a testament to the kindness of local Habitat volunteers and partners.”

Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity worked in collaboration with The Leonardo Museum and City Home Collective to provide each of the Lopez children with a dream bedroom design. The designs were inspired by the Lopez children and will be revealed at today’s dedication.
