I write to you today with a unique plea, but one that is dear to my heart. A human interest story that is happening right there in your neck of the woods! I’ll try to keep the gist short and sweet, as I tend toward the verbose; you certainly don’t have time for that!

I met my sister, Myranda, just 5 years ago, having living almost 40 years not knowing my biological family. Upon meeting her and her husband, Michael, I discovered many things about them both that touched me to the core, not the least of which is that family is most important.

To that end, Mike and Myranda are trying to raise their four boys in all the ways you would hope when you imagine the “American” dream. Career military dad, full time mom (who sometimes works part time to makes ends meet), who spend time with their kids, getting involved in their sports activities and supporting them 110% in all ways because that’s what parents do.

Right? Right!

And it shows.

Now the boys, the oldest three - Collyn, Corban, and Caiden, have the very awesome opportunity to join the prestigious La Roca Soccer Club in Layton, Utah. They’ve worked hard - putting time and effort in that shows how much they want to be there. How dedicated each of them are to playing the game of futbol and the pride they have in themselves and for the game.

I don’t know much about the whole thing, honestly. We are all caught up in our own lives, truth be told...but I humbly ask that you take a moment to read, as I have, to write...

I do know that it’s been a team (family) effort. Practices, dinners on the run, more practicing, kickin’ and bumpin’ weekends, tryouts, practicing some more, improvements here and there, trying out again.

And finally, for all three - getting accepted to La Roca.

Mike and Myranda knew going in that the cost would be enormous. But their dedication to their boys and their dream went beyond worrying about how they would afford club fees and uniforms and training, etc.

Until now. It’s here. And this family needs help.

Enter “Go Fund Me”. Crowd sourcing is the new in thing in reaching seemingly impossible goals for ordinary folks looking to dream big - for themselves and those they care for.

Michael and Myranda are doing just that for Collyn, Corban, and Caiden.

But they need help on a grander scale.

And that’s where I thought you might lend a hand - however that may be. I emailed my sister not long after they posted their campaign and told her that I wanted to help her in any way that I could. Unfortunately, we are cash poor here, too. I’ve been ill for quite some time and while you don’t need those details, if I could help my nephews by sending cash, know that I would. Period.

But my 10 or 20 bucks isn’t enough, anyway. They need more. Not trillions more. But enough to make it seem that way. When you are facing a dream that seems just out of reach...well...

I’m reaching out today to see if we can’t help them get a bit of stranger love. I’ve seen it happen before and I know it can be done. I tend toward the positive and think that’s a fine way of going about life. You give and you get - and for all that Mike and Myr have given to those boys, they deserve to get some back for them, too.

Included here is the link to their “Go Fund Me” Campaign: http://www.gofundme.com/a6k0m8 and as you’ll see, their very reasonable goal of $2800, they are almost 10% of the way there!

My sister’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/myranda.cowles

And Michael’s FB email, as well: michael.cowles@facebook.com

I did tell Myranda that I wanted to help in whatever way I could; however, she is not aware of what I have written or to whom. I’m not a fan of the “mass email” but we are limited on time and gosh darnit, it would be wonderful if we could get something done.

Thank you, sincerely, for your time and attention. I hope you have a wonderful day and that the whole week shapes up just the same for you and those around you.

Cheers,
