Bank of Utah Seeking Donations of Layette items for

Moms and Babies in Need

Community bank accepting donations of cash, diapers, clothes and formula at its bank branches, mortgage loan centers and trust offices throughout Utah

OGDEN, Utah, June 15, 2015 – Food pantries, family service organizations and shelters are always in need of diapers and other baby items, especially during the summer months when donations are traditionally down. That is why Bank of Utah’s 18 branches, and mortgage loan and trust offices are accepting donations of cash, diapers, clothes and other baby items for its third annual Shower Them With Love project, June 22 through July 17.

The locally-owned and operated community bank is seeking community partners such as local businesses, churches and civic groups to help collect the essential baby items that will be delivered to local charities in July.

“We have identified some wonderful non-profit organizations that serve families who are struggling financially and can’t provide for their newest family members,” said Roger Christensen, Bank of Utah senior vice president, business development and communications. “We’d like to encourage our bank neighbors and friends to join us in collecting baby-care items for those families in need. Together we can fill those pantry shelves and help make life more comfortable for the most vulnerable in our state.”

“There are many new mothers in our community who lack the family support or the financial means to celebrate their new baby,” said Marcie Valdez, director of Catholic Community Services of Northern Utah. “Our St. Martha’s Baby Project provides gifts of love that let struggling new mothers know there are people in the community who care about them and their new babies.

“We’re so excited to partner with Bank of Utah again this year on this wonderful event,” added Valdez. “We’ve seen a tremendous increase in the number of layettes we are giving out each month, and the donations coming in have not quite kept up with the need. The bank’s shower comes at a perfect time for us.”

People wishing to participate may drop off donations at any of Bank of Utah’s branches, and trust and mortgage offices in Tremonton, Logan, Providence, Brigham City, Ogden, Roy, Layton, Salt Lake City, Sandy, South Towne, Orem and St. George.
