The new Orchard Springs Elementary School will not be complete in time for the new 2019-2020 school year. The building, which cost $21.6 million, will house new students in the Pleasant View area but not for at least 1-3 months. However, 380 students along with several teachers, will be relocated to various elementary schools within Weber District.  This will give each of the staff and students the opportunity to still begin the school year, with everyone else, only in a different location.

Silver Ridge Elementary, in Farr West, is complete and newly finished.  It will house displaced students from Orchard Springs along with a handful of other schools.

In a letter sent out to families of children who would be attending Orchard Springs, Principal Mary Jo Williams stated,   “The response from neighboring schools has been overwhelming.  They have expressed in so many different ways how eager they are to welcome and assist our teachers and students.”

Furthermore, in the letter it was explained just where each of the students and teachers would be placed until Orchard Springs was finished and ready for the staff and students to return.

Here is a breakdown as to which schools students will be attending:

*Kindergarten -North Ogden Elementary with  *back to school night Friday August 16th 4:00 p.m.-6 p.m.

Each grade will be assigned to a bus, the busses will be clearly marked, and each bus will stop at each bus stop.  Students will ride the bus to and from school.

For the first week of school all teachers will be riding the bus with students from 1st through 6th grade

Kindergarten will start on August 27th where an aide will ride the bus with the students to and from school.  For the rest of the first week, a teacher will ride the bus with the students on the way to school and an assigned aide will ride the bus with the students on the way home from school.

All office staff, including Principal Mary Jo Williams, will be relocating to Silver Ridge Elementary.  The phone number there is 801-395-5610.

Williams says, “I would like to express my appreciation for your patience and support as we work through this unique situation.”   If you’d like to reach Mary Jo Williams you may email her at mjwilliams@wsd.net
