UTAH SENATE REQUESTS PUBLIC COMMENT ON THREE JUDICIAL NOMINEES
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee seeks public comment on Laura Scott and Doug Hogan who were recently appointed to the Third District Court, and Angela Fonnesbeck who was appointed to the First District Juvenile Court.
Those who desire to comment should contact Mike Christensen at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol, House Building, Suite W210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-5210, by 5 p.m. on October 31st, 2014. All statements should include the respondent’s name, telephone number, and mailing address.
The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee will hold a public hearing and make a recommendation to the full senate prior to the final confirmation vote. If confirmed, Mr. Scott will replace Judge John Paul Kennedy, who will retire on December 31st. Mr. Hogan will replace Judge L. A. Dever, who will retire on November 1st, and Ms. Fonnesbeck will replace Judge Larry Jones, who will retire on December 31st.
The Third District Court includes Salt Lake, Tooele, and Summit counties. The First District includes Box Elder, Cache, and Rich counties.
