This holiday season, Senske will once again participate in Decorated Family, which finds 200 families of deployed service men and women across the country and decorates their homes for Christmas. Senske has had an ongoing commitment to the program each year since 2003.
Decorated Family allows friends and families to nominate a person serving in the military. The nominee’s family will then be eligible to be chosen for professional light installation for the holidays. “Decorated Family allows us to give back to the community and recognize those who serve in our military branches,” says Becca Presley, Senske's Director of Marketing.
This year’s program promises to be bigger than ever. Senske is announcing the plan with Veteran’s Day a few weeks away to give participants even more time to give their nominations. The company is currently accepting nominations through its Decorated Family page on senske.com. Each nomination should include a name, phone number, address, and email as well as a story explaining the nomination. All nominations are due on November 16th and winners will be chosen on the 18th at 12:00 pm PST.
The Decorated Family program, with help from Christmas Décor, has been in existence for over a decade. It began when a former Senske branch manager attended a holiday dinner party and thought of all the military members serving overseas who wouldn’t be able to celebrate with their loved ones.

$1,000 reward offered for dog shot, killed in Uintah County
Humane Society of Utah adds a reward for the arrest in dog shooting case
The Humane Society of Utah (HSU) is adding $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for shooting a Doberman dog named Chunk in Gusher, Utah. The HSU hopes the reward assists the Uintah County Animal Control and Shelter in obtaining information required to identify and charge whoever is responsible for this allegedly intentional act of senseless animal cruelty.
Chunk was found shot dead Friday, Oct. 7, by her owner Jessica Petty. Petty posted photos of her dog along with a message offering a $1,000.00 reward of her own on Facebook.
“We hope this additional reward helps bring justice for Chunk and her family,” said Gene Baierschmidt, HSU executive director. “There are too many unanswered questions surrounding this situation to ignore. The discharge of a firearm near the Petty residence and the resultant death of their family pet are tragic. We extend our sincere condolences to the Petty family.”
According to the Utah State Criminal Code, it is a third-degree felony for a person to intentionally or knowingly torture a companion animal. Torture is defined as intentionally or knowingly causing or inflicting extreme physical pain to an animal in an especially heinous, atrocious, cruel or exceptionally depraved manner.
