Do you want a great resource for you and your family to understand the true spirit of American freedom?  Then this is the book for you! Published by Deseret Book, the book, compiled by Thomas R. Valleta of Pleasant View, who is noted as the General Editor, contains 18 famous and important American documents with detailed footnotes, along with important commentaries from church leaders.

The illustrations, graphics, and pictures make it a resource that youth and children will be attracted to as well. Most importantly, the spirit of freedom is preserved and enhanced throughout the work.  The explanations are thorough and insightful.

Perhaps some of my favorite parts, besides the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, are the speeches by John Winthrop and accompanying quotations of his time regarding this land’s special place in God’s plans.  I also liked Ronald Reagan’s speech, as he commemorated the successful landing of the allied troops in Normandy to end World War II and foretold of the end of the Cold War.

To complete this book, the General Editor was joined by six more men who work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, although nowhere is it stated who worked on a specific document.

Indeed, one must say that these Great American Documents are given in truth and clarity here for our use as Latter-day Saint families.
