Utah State Board of Education appoints Interim Superintendent The Utah State Board of Education today named Sydnee Dickson as interim superintendent of public instruction and announced plans to revisit the topic of appointing a permanent superintendent later this year.
Dickson has served as acting superintendent since January, when Brad C. Smith announced he would take voluntary leave. On Wednesday of this week, Smith announced his resignation.
State Board Members today expressed a desire to maintain consistency throughout the Utah legislative session, which ends March 10. Dickson has acted as the primary representative of the State Board and Utah State Office of Education throughout the session thus far.
“We have great momentum and confidence in our leadership team and plan to focus on continuing our work with legislators at this time,” said State Board Chair David L. Crandall.
