New book tells America’s ‘Blindness by Design’

Robert Day shares a narrative that condemns the divisiveness that has taken hold of American society

ALPINE, Utah – According to Robert Day, President Donald Trump's narcissistic assault upon the rule of law creates unprecedented division and contention in the United States of America. For him, most Americans are deeply offended by Trump’s utter disregard for both decency and integrity in the hostile takeover of the Republican Party. Day believes that it is time to speak up and say something. It prompted him to write “Blindness by Design: The Dismantling of Democracy” (published by Xlibris).

The book is a narrative that condemns the divisiveness that has taken hold of American society brought about by what Day refers to as the incessant rhetoric of the Trump administration. It discusses the lack of honesty, manipulation of the news media and utter deceit that surround the function of the administration and its dire consequences. Each chapter in the book concludes with a summary statement describing a specific element of the “Blindness by Design” that is evident in every aspect of what is referred in the book as “Trumpism.”

“Dishonesty and lack of transparency in government need to be addressed in the upcoming midterm elections,” Day points out. “Hopefully the release of this book now will motivate voters to make their voices heard.”

Through the publication of “Blindness by Design: The Dismantling of Democracy,” Day hopes to open the eyes of readers for them to realize that this nation is not and will never be about Trump. “The incessant lies we hear, the continual misrepresentations of fact, and the contention and uncertainty we feel as a nation every day have literally become an integral part of what we now call Trumpism. One thing is certain: the entire Donald J. Trump narrative and agenda also appears to be a very carefully structured case of blindness, by design,” he adds.

About the Author

Robert Day was born in the small rural town of Kaysville. Although not raised a Mormon, he was reared with an extremely conservative set of values – with great emphasis on the importance of honesty and integrity. He was able to rest on the sidelines only so long before finally being compelled to call out the blatant dishonesty and hypocrisy in the rhetoric and actions of President Donald Trump.

Judicial Watch Sues DOJ for Andrew Weissmann Text Messages Regarding Trump, Clinton

(Washington, DC) — Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit asking the court to compel the Department of Justice produce “all text messages to or from DOJ official Andrew Weissmann” regarding President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:18-cv-01356)). Weissmann is a senior deputy for Special Counsel Robert Mueller and a former chief of the Justice Department criminal fraud division.

Judicial Watch filed suit in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia after the DOJ failed to respond to a December 15, 2017, FOIA request seeking:

  • All text messages sent to or from DOJ official Andrew Weissmann regarding Donald Trump and/or Hillary Clinton between August 8, 2016 and the present.
  • All calendar entries, whether in physical or electronic form, for Weissmann from January 1, 2015 to the present.

Judicial Watch noted that the DOJ “has failed to produce the requested records or demonstrate that the requested records are lawfully exempt from production.”

Weissmann’s objectivity in Mueller’s investigation was called into question in December 2017 when Judicial Watch obtained through a FOIA lawsuit an email Weissmann wrote praising former acting Attorney General Sally Yates for defying Trump on enforcement of the president’s so-called travel ban.

Weissmann wrote to Yates in the email: “I am so proud. And in awe. Thank you so much. All my deepest respects.” President Trump fired Yates soon after.

Also in December 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported that Weissmann had been in attendance at Hillary Clinton’s 2016 election night party. According to the Washington Post, Weissman contributed more than $4000 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2008 and $2300 to the Clinton campaign in 2007.

Weissmann, described by The New York Times as Mueller’s “pit bull,” is the lead prosecutor in the Mueller team’s case against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.

“Clearly, it is up to Judicial Watch to get to the heart of the corruption at the out-of-control Mueller team and the FBI,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The IG report was so watered down as to be nearly useless. The recent DOJ Inspector General’s report noted that five unnamed FBI employees have been referred for investigation into whether their text messages violated FBI code. The leadership is compromised, and the meandering Mueller investigation must be shut down.
