UTAH SENATE REQUESTS PUBLIC COMMENT ON FIFTH DISTRICT JUVENILE COURT NOMINEE
SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee is seeking public comment on Troy Little who was appointed by Governor Herbert to fill a vacancy on the Fifth District Juvenile Court.
Those who desire to comment should contact Jerry Howe at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol Campus, House Building, Suite W210, PO Box 145210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-5210, by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. All statements should include the respondent’s name, telephone number, and mailing address.
The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee plans to hold a public hearing, then issue a recommendation to the full senate. If confirmed by the senate, Mr. Little will fill a vacancy resulting from the retirement of Judge Thomas Higbee, effective April 30.
The 5th Judicial District includes Beaver, Iron and Washington counties.

FEBRUARY 16, 2018 - BROOKLYN, NY - Indie-pop band, RANN, are premiering their new single "Renegade Holiday" via Popdust today. Listen HERE. "The track is sexy and intense, emblematic of Cigarettes After Sex and The 1975 with the pop breeding of a power band like Phoenix", Popdust describes. "Renegade Holiday" will be featured on RANN's upcoming self-produced EP of the same name, due out on 2/23. The EP's prior single, "Copycat", debuted earlier this month on Earmilk, who noted, "[It's] an intriguing juxtaposition musically, with its blend of unchliched pyschedelia and unpretentious garage-band angst." Similarly, Vanyland called it a "sleek tidal wave of restructured pop", while The Deli Magazine claimed, "It develops the quartet's sophisticated sound in a dark direction." Described by Thrd Coast as "Phoenix with a touch more grit, or The Strokes draped in synth," RANN are a Brooklyn-based quartet that have garnered a fair amount of praise for their collage-genre combining indie rock, dream pop, psych and punk. Although the four members initially met while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, it wasn't until they all moved to Brooklyn in 2014 that they decided to write music together and create the melting pot of influences that defines RANN.
During the winter of that same year, the members of RANN isolated themselves in a cabin in upstate New York and wrote 12 songs; 9 of which would become the band's debut album, Yellowgun. The record was officially released in November 2015 to acclaim from Vanyaland and The Deli NYC, and propelled the band onto the CMJ college radio charts, a number of SXSW showcases and two national tours.
During that second tour, RANN isolated themselves again--this time in a cabin in Yosemite Park, California--to write a new batch of songs that would later become Renegade Holiday. After wrapping up the tour with a nearly sold out homecoming show at Rough Trade NYC, the band went back into the studio to record these new songs that were later mixed by 7-time Grammy Award winning engineer, Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer).
"Renegade Holiday" is the latest single and title track from RANN's upcoming EP, Renegade Holiday, due out 2/23.
