Sen. Lee Statement on Final Passage of Tax Cuts and Jobs Act

WASHINGTON – Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) issued the following statement today after final passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

“American working families deserve a tax cut and this bill delivers it to them,” Sen. Lee said. “According to the left of center Tax Policy Center, this bill will reduce taxes for all income groups in 2018 by an average of $1,600. And according to The Washington Post, a Utah family with two kids making the median $62,000 a year would see a $1,675 tax cut. Delivering more take home pay for these working Utahn families is why I voted for this bill.”

“Now there is still a lot to be done. First and foremost we need to work with Democrats to make these middle-class tax cuts permanent. Second, we can do even more for lower-income working families by making the expanded Child Tax Credit in this bill fully refundable up to payroll tax liability.”

“I stand ready to work with anybody to make sure working American families are treated fairly by our tax code.”

Cancer Victims Eligible for $50,000 or More in Compensation

Cancer victims and their families are finding that they are eligible for a tax free $50,000 or more from the federal government. Patients, those in remission, and the loved ones of the deceased, are being compensated; but time is running out.

The program, officially known as the “Radiation Exposure Compensation Act” and unofficially known as “The Downwinders Program”, started in 1990 as an effort from Congress to compensate victims of nuclear radiation in certain counties Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. These victims were affected as a result of radiation from atomic bomb testing, be it through the wind or direct contact with uranium ore from mining or transporting.

While children were playing on the playground and watching the above ground tests, they were being condemned to a future of cancer-related hardships, and they didn’t even know it. While miners and transporters of uranium ore were being paid to do their job, their lives and the lives of their loved ones were being permanently affected.

Many of these individuals have received the compensation for which they are eligible in the 27 years since the program began, but not everyone has. Those who potentially qualify and have not yet filed should act soon, as the program is ending in 2022. This looming expiration date on the possibility of life changing compensation is encouraging affected persons to act fast before they no longer can.

Laura J. Taylor, an attorney in Arizona who has filed over 1500 successful claims, explained the compensation amounts. “There are three levels of compensation. Downwinders are entitled to $50,000; On-site participants of the testing are entitled to $75,000; Miners and transporters of uranium ore are entitled to $100,000.” She went on to explain that these people deserve their money, and the first step is making a call to see if they qualify.

If you believe you or a deceased family member was exposed to radiation during above ground testing, onsite participation in a test, or from working with uranium ore, please contact the Law Offices of Laura J. Taylor. Located in Prescott, Arizona, Ms. Taylor wants nothing more than to help you receive the payment you deserve.

Secretary Perdue Statement on Congressional Passage of Tax Cuts & Reforms

(Washington, D.C., December 20, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today issued the following statement regarding the Congressional passage of a conference report on tax cuts and reform legislation:

“This is a once-in-a-generation reform of the federal tax code and it comes just in time to be an eagerly awaited Christmas present for taxpayers. Having traveled through our nation’s heartland for most of this year, I know that the hard-working, tax-paying people of American agriculture need relief. Most family farms are run as small businesses, and they should be able to keep more of what they earn to reinvest in their operations and take care of their families. Simplifying the tax code and easing the burden on citizens will free them up to make choices for themselves, create jobs, and boost the overall American economy. I thank President Trump for his leadership, and commend Congress for being responsive to the people.”

For as long as he can remember, Matt LeGrand has been in love with music. Spending his infant years in France, LeGrand and his family relocated when he was seven years old to Chicago, where the vibrant city and its influential musicians made an immediate impression on the youngster. Here, he found himself exploring a different genre every night, and diving headfirst into the creation of his own sound.

In 2015, LeGrand released his debut single, "Spring Break Girl", which not only solidified him as a must-watch talent on the Chicago scene, but also a rising star in the national pop world. The coinciding video experienced a meteoric rise, eventually grabbing the attention of tastemakers at MTVU, where it was played on a consistent rotation. The success of the video earned LeGrand a nomination for MTVU's The Freshman video contest; which pits together five emerging artists from all genres and allows the fans to decide who gets on-air rotation.

In the following months, LeGrand released two more soulful urban pop tracks, "Fire" and "One More Try," which landed him on the cover of the November issue of Young Celebrity News Magazine, and led to attention from notable publications like Young Entertainment Magazine, The Student Pocket Guide and Review Fix, who said "Mattʼs emotive vocals meld into the lush groove, heightening the nuanced simplicity that the melody captures."

LeGrand's latest original single, "All Good", was released in July 2017 and garnered praised from HuffPost, AXS, Celeb Mix, Kings of A&R and more. The video is also being played in over 1,300 Footlocker locations this month as part of their pop reel.
