Ogden Educator Awarded National Grant

Alexandria, VA – Ms. Stephanie Mathers, a teacher at Middle Ogden Preparatory Academy, in Ogden, Utah, has been awarded a national grant by the Association of American Educators Foundation to purchase a variety of popularly demanded personal reading books for her Title 1 School.

“To encourage reading, it is essential that students have quick and easy access to a variety of age-appropriate, high-interest books during language arts class,” said Mathers. “This grant will be helpful for the many class assignments tied to the general class requirement that students read three times a week and complete at least one book and one book project per quarter.”

AAEF is committed to offering individual educators various avenues for improving effectiveness in the classroom.  “AAEF commends the dedication that Ms. Mathers has demonstrated in securing funding for her classroom,” said AAEF Chairman Gary Beckner. “These scholarships and grants are an investment in empowering teachers as professionals across the country.”

The Association of American Educators Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation that provides the public and public school teachers with educational information to help reform and improve the education of America’s youth. The national scholarship and grant competition is held twice a year in the fall and spring and is open to all educators. The fall deadline is October 1, 2013.
