High schoolers of all ages are welcome to join the wonderful opportunity of being a part of the Youth City Council. Some may wonder as to what the Youth City Council is. It is a wonderful opportunity for the youth of Farr West to participate in the community by volunteering as well as participating in council meetings. A mayor will be elected, as well as council members and committee members.
Some may remember a few years ago when there was a Youth Council; however, it ended. It is now being brought back by Darren Roylance, and in what will hopefully be an annual election, much like the Farr West Council.
Applications are due by September 15, 2015, and can be picked up from the Farr West City offices, 1896 N 1800 W, Farr West UT, 84404. To qualify applicants must be in grades 9-12 and a Farr West resident.
On September 15, applications will be sorted and high schoolers will be selected for the council.
The Youth Council is run by the youth of Farr West; however, Roylance will be present to make sure everything stays on track during council meetings.
“This is going to be a great opportunity for the youth. It is going to be a lot of work, but it will be worth it,” as Roylance stated about starting the Youth Council.
Not only will participating in this fantastic opportunity look great on college applications, as a high school senior participating in this event, a college scholarship will be awarded towards the end in order to help pay for further education.
Along with the Youth Council deadline coming up, the Questar Gas line is well on its way. They were given approval on the issuing of a permit for the Questar Gas facility that is to be located at approximately 1900 West Harrisville Road. Questar is required to have an eight-foot tall fence for security purposes—it must be a decorative fence that compliments the surrounding areas and must be well maintained.
