(Washington, DC, Aug. 23, 2017) – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today unveiled a new mobile application for Apple and Android devices to provide Executive Branch employees answers to questions about government ethics issues. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Ethics App is the first of its kind in the federal government and reaffirms Perdue’s commitment to applying President Trump’s government-wide ethics standards to the department.

“On my first day as Secretary of Agriculture, I emphasized USDA’s firm commitment to maintaining the highest degree of integrity and ethical behavior in keeping with President Trump’s ethics pledge,” Perdue wrote in an email to all USDA staff to announce the application. “As public servants, our greater understanding of these important rules will help serve USDA’s mission and our new motto to ‘Do right and feed everyone’ so that we enhance the American public’s confidence in the integrity and important work of the Department of Agriculture.”

The Ethics App brings to users’ fingertips short, easy-to-read summaries of federal ethics rules and Hatch Act limitations on political activity. It includes a comprehensive video library so that officials can quickly become familiar with these important rules at any time, whether in the office, off-site, or on official travel. It also contains a resources section so USDA employees can readily contact an ethics advisor at USDA. The groundbreaking application was designed to make compliance with the federal ethics rules a one-stop-shop for USDA employees, but the app is available to anyone with Android devices or Apple devices.

Note: You may find additional USDA ethics resources on the Office of Ethics webpage on the USDA website.

"I'm sure a lot of people who are close to us already know this but this band has faced more than our fair share of hurdles in our short existence. There were many times where I never believed we would be where we are now," shares drummer Michael Kelly. "That being said, I don't resent or regret any of the struggles we've been through. I think it's all led us straight into what Float Around has become; and that is the best version of Coldfront that we've seen yet. Float Around channels it all in to a collection of songs about love and life that paint an honest picture of everything we've become from day one to present. We have never been more proud of anything in our young lives. Thank you for being a part of it."

To date, Coldfront has released three EPs - Is This Where They Found You? (2016), Some Things Never Change (2014) and their self-titled debut (2013). The band played their first show ever at the Toronto date of 2013 Vans Warped Tour and have since gone on to share stages with the likes of Knuckle Puck, Such Gold, and Like Pacific and perform at festivals such as KOI Fest alongside Silverstein, Every Time I Die, Counterparts, and more.

===========================

Senator Jim Dabakis, a member of the Governor's Education Excellence Commission, released the following statement in conjunction with today's issuance of the Commission's report called The Utah Education Road Map 2017-2027.

"It was a deep disappointment for me to cast a no vote to the Commission's recommendations, but I felt as though Utah school children, teachers, and parents needed a voice saying this report does not speak seriously to the top issue in Utah's educational future -- funding! For a generation, Utah has been tragically trapped in 50th place for state education funding."

Dabakis continued,

"After dozens of meetings, hundreds of thousands of dollars and endless time invested by a who's who of education in the State, the release of the "Roadmap Report" shows no funding goals or plans. No commitment to future funding. No serious plan as to where more revenue could be generated.

Just like a substance addiction, the first step towards solving a problem is accepting that it exists. Until Utah's majority political leadership accepts the fact that we must have a steady and significant increase in educational funding, our school children and economic future will continue to suffer. That's why this report is such a disappointment. It is a great opportunity lost.

To pay for more funding, I have offered up to a billion dollars in added educational revenue, without a tax increase to anyone earning less than $250,000.

Vice President Joe Biden once said, "show me your budget and I will show you your priorities." It is clear that whatever Utah leaders may be saying about education being their top priority, their budget decisions scream otherwise."
