He graduated from Weber High School and Weber State College.  In September of 1957 he married Bonnie Bybee.  Bonnie was born in Ogden and attended Ogden City schools. They moved into the home Jay’s grandfather built, which now is the home of Steve and Kaylana Gertsch.  In 1970 they finished their home on Higley Road in Farr West, where they presently live. Jay and Bonnie have 7 children, 28 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren who give them great joy. Jay was Scout Master for twelve years, which he enjoyed greatly. Jay served on the Farr West Planning Commission for eight years when Farr West City was in its beginnings. Bonnie served many years in the PTA, on the Bookmobile, and the Cub Scouts. Jay and Bonnie have also enjoyed their church service in the community.  They have loved living in Farr West and raising their family here.  They have been of service to the community with the effort to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all families to enjoy.
