For an hour on August 15th, the Pleasant View City Council heard Mr. John Janson explain how he has evaluated economic development areas, the Transportation Zone, and the Gateway Zone of the City as directed by the City in regards to potential development.  The area that Mr. Janson concentrated on was the part of Pleasant View City and Farr West City North of 2700 North and adjacent to the I-15 Interchange.

During the discussion part of the meeting after Mr. Janson‘s presentation, Mayor Clifford repeatedly referred to land in Pleasant View as if the City owned and controlled the land, and as if any planning regarding its use was primarily the City’s. Mr. Janson, on the other hand spoke of landowner issues being not just impediments to the City’s plans, but as an important  consideration.  Mr. Janson, though, gave his opinion that strip commercial areas were not desirable.  He noted that the population is a little short in the area for increased commercial developments as there are commercial areas in nearby Farr West and North Ogden.  He indicated that Farr West has a better location.  The next time Mr. Janson was to meet with the City on August 30th, the vision for the future was going to be discussed in a “visionary” meeting.
